No pressure. No auditions. Just a simple conversation about the best place to begin.

Hey there, fellow wanderer,
Ever since I was a kid, I've always been in love with the journey of my favorite fantasy characters. Reading their stories where they would find a Master, become an apprentice, train and refine their skills over years, and become a Master themselves by the end of the story. Wandering Bards is my way of bringing this story to life for all of my music students.
Here's a glimpse of the path ahead, a progressive journey designed to guide you from your very first strum to becoming a true Master of your craft and finding your unique musical legacy within our community. This path is long and winding. As my dear friend often reminds me, “The path ahead isn’t linear, Michael.” But every step is taken alongside others who are just as eager to learn and grow.
This is where we all begin. At our first lesson you become my apprentice. Being an apprentice is about curiosity, discovery, and getting comfortable with the instrument in your hands. Every new chord is a triumph, every practice session a brave step onto new ground. You're laying the foundation for the song that's waiting to unfold. Learn your first songs and take your first steps on the path.
After learning the skills of an Apprentice, you are granted the title of Journeyer. You're now building muscle memory, understanding rhythm, and finding your first true melodies. This is where you take the Bardic Oath, join your first band & begin recognizing that your growth is tied to the community around you.
As a Journeyer, you've built a strong foundation. Now, you become an Instrumentalist (Guitarist, Vocalist, Ukulelist, etc.). You're beginning to feel truly at home with your instrument. Playing feels natural and energizing, and you're comfortable improvising and performing. You confidently switch between leads or rhythm, whichever your band needs in your shared musical conversation. You are at the doorstep of true mastery.
After mastering the skills of an Instrumentalist, you become what you set out to be; A Master. This is where technical mastery meets profound artistry. Your understanding is deep, your playing nuanced, and your ability to convey emotion is powerful. You've explored the instrument's full potential and made it your own. You have a comprehensive understanding of music theory, advanced techniques, and can play complex pieces effortlessly. But don't become complacent, for this is just the beginning of a whole new journey…
